With 2023 just around the corner, I thought we could take a look at some of the trends that are predicted to be big in the New Year. Trends have a habit of creeping up on us, so you are likely to have seen some of these before as they have slowly been becoming more and more popular.

Thank you to Alex Ford Photography for this image.

Burnt Orange and Rusts

Yes, I know this isn’t new. But those burnt orange tones have been increasing in popularity over the last year – and it’s not just couples getting married in autumn that are choosing them! It won’t be long until your Insta grid is full of these pops of orange.

Smaller Guest Lists

Wedding budgets may have not been decreasing but guest lists have. Couples are choosing to keep their wedding party smaller and therefore increasing their spend-per-head. This may be through choosing more lavish menu options or going all out on floral installations. Either way, this trend is seeing a greater focus on guest experience.

Sustainability

Like with everything, weddings have their own carbon footprint and couples are becoming more conscious about their wedding’s impact on the environment. A few simple choices can make a significant impact. For example, opting for seasonal British grown flowers, hiring items instead of buying and choosing locally sourced food. Sustainability doesn’t have to be boring and there are lots of fabulous suppliers who are climate conscious.

Dusty Blue

You can thank Bridgerton for this one. With Season 3 due to be released in 2023 (Team Polin every day) we are not out of the programme’s influence yet. While couples may not be going full Regency vibes, the dusty blue which is often synonymous with the era has had a surge in popularity. It’s gentle, romantic, versatile and different (but not too wacky) from the popular sage green.

Outdoor Weddings

This is a little hangover from Covid (when outdoor weddings became even more popular) and has been urged on by the change in law. Pre-covid to get married outdoors you had to have your ceremony under a permanent structure, such as a bandstand. Now, however, venues have greater flexibility and you can get married in the open air or under a semi-permanent structure. Unsurprisingly, this has been a roaring success and venues are quickly adapting to give couples more choice for their ceremony location.

Of course, there are more trends emerging than the few I have listed in this article. Get me talking and I’m sure I’ll divulge some more! Are you getting married in 2023? Do you think you will have any of these trends at your wedding? Don’t forget our styling and planning services can help you bring your wedding dreams to life!
