How do you create an amazing guest experience at your wedding? Well, I’ll let you into a secret, It’s pretty simple. It’s all about the five senses.
See
This is things like your florals, styling, scenery and location. Think about the spaces your guests are going to spend the most time in, capitalise on views and accentuate building features. Where do you want to draw people’s gaze and create a focal point?
Hear
Again, nothing groundbreaking. Think about music, but not just for your dance floor! Background music is a simple way to add ambience and create a certain mood. A good place for music is when your guests are arriving at the ceremony and during welcome drinks. This can be done with a playlist through a speaker system or, for an extra luxurious touch, live musicians.

Taste
You guessed it, food and drink. Consider your menu carefully, which courses compliment each other? Is there a story to the food’s provenance? Think about what elements you can personalise with the menu and bar. This will captivate your guests’ interest and create a talking point. Personalised cocktails always go down a treat!
Touch
A quick way to add a luxurious feel is to not forget about your touchpoints. A good place to focus on is at your wedding breakfast. Think about things such as: cutlery, glassware, stationary, chair decor. The clue is in the name, items your guests will touch. Choosing items that have great tactility will make every action even more pleasurable. Touchpoints are a very subtle way to add to the atmosphere, your guests will have an even better experience without realising why!
Smell
What is your favourite smell? Do you have a favourite candle at home? Consider using scented candles or diffusers in some spaces. Smell is such a powerful sense and can instantly transport your guests to a place or brighten their mood. Imagine adding those beautiful pine scents during a winter wedding – so cosy! The only caveat with using scents is to steer clear of using them during your wedding breakfast, as they can interfere with your guests’ taste. No one wants to be inhaling a lavender candle whilst tucking into a beef wellington!
So, give this page a bookmark and don’t forget to think about the five senses when adding the final touches to your wedding. Happy planning!
